Context

On October 20, President Biden submitted a funding request to Congress for more than $105 billion as part of a national security package that includes $61.4 billion in aid for Ukraine, $14.3 billion for Israel and around $30 billion in funding for humanitarian aid, Taiwan and the U.S. Mexico border.

As of July 2023, the U.S. has sent nearly $77 billion in aid to Ukraine for humanitarian and military assistance, as well as weapons and military equipment from the Department of Defense’s stocks. Recently, the Pentagon warned Congress that it is running low on money to replace weapons sent to Ukraine and has urged for more funding.
